Class Descriptions:Preschool Music Adventures Camp for ages 3-5 yrs Each week holds a music adventure! Through singing, dancing, rhythm chanting, instrument play, imaginative active music games and craft construction, preschool students will nurture basic music competency and essential phoneme awareness. Weekly parental attendance is warmly encouraged Cost: $135 class + $20 materials (crafts, book, CD) Camp: 1.5 hrs/ 5 days Class: 1.5 hrs/ 5wks Preschool Keyboarding Kids Camp for 3-5 yrs Have fun in this introductory music camp that enhances the neuromuscular “feel” for music through energetic keyboard playing, reading and writing music, ear training, rhythm games and DoReMi (solfege) singing. Parent participation encouraged. Cost: $90 + $25 materials (songbook, CD, worksheets) Camp:45 min/ 5 days Mini Music Producers Camp for ages 4-6 yrs Produce your first musical. Your imagination will lead you through exciting composing, singing, dancing and prop designing, to produce your own mini-musical production. Cost: $129 + $20 materials Camp: 1.5 hrs/ 5 days Music & Keyboard Discoveries Camp ages 6-10 yrs Begin a strong foundation for all future musical learning through this energetic class designed as an introduction to the basics of music theory and practice. Learn Solfege singing (do, re, mi) and ear training exercises that lead to inner hearing as well as neuromuscular feeling for music. Have fun reading and writing music and playing ensembles with rhythm instruments, as well as conducting music, improvising and composing. Cost: $120 + $25 materials (songbook, CD, worksheets) Camp:55 min/5 days Music Mini Byte 6-10yrs / Music Mega Byte 11-13 yrs Explore exciting music software using PCs and rock out on challenging Game Cube and PS2 music games! Campers will journey through a variety of age-appropriate music games designed to enhance rhythm, tonal and theory skills while honing coordination, problem solving and attention skills! “Screen time” will be complimented with other more physical music activities and games to keep the mind and body moving at all times! Cost: $120 Camp: 2 hrs/ 5 days POP Vocal Camp or Class 6-10, 11-13yrs Find your vocal potential! Practice exercises to warm up, strengthen your voice, and increase your range. Sing your favorite age-appropriate pop songs along with karaoke tracks or live piano back-up. Shine at the end of the week with a LIVE performance in front of your family and friends! Cost: $145 + $35 materials (book, CD) Camp: 2 hrs/ 5 days Hi Tech Musician Camp 6-10, 11-13 yrs Learn some of the latest computer technology to create and mix your own signature music CD. A certified music instructor and studio musician will lead you through the exciting process of composing, performing and recording your own music creations. Anyone can do it; no experience is necessary! Cost: $195 + $18 materials (worksheets, CD) Camp: 3 hrs/ 5 days Electric Keyboard Art Camp 6-10yrs, 11-13yrs Start with blank canvases and use the color and texture of hundreds of keyboard sounds to create musical stories. Learn useful improvisation, composition, and collaborative techniques to build your masterpieces with skill. Anyone can do it; no experience is necessary! Learn useful warm-ups and finger exercises plus how to play some of your favorite songs. Students will apply basic chords to any song they want, in any style of music! Electric and acoustic welcome. Cost: $140 + $35 materials (book, worksheets) Camp: 2 hrs/ 5 days Class: 2 hrs/ 5 wks Bruce Coate’s Jazz Academy 11yrs+ Work with MD’s premier Jazz instructor to develop the ability to solo as part of a Jazz ensemble while building an understanding of the exciting fundamentals of Jazz. Open to students of all ages and instruments with working knowledge of major scales. Cost: $165 + $35 materials Camp: 1.5 hrs/ 5 days Clarinet Ensemble 11yrs + Find your musical edge in this fun and challenging camp directed by accomplished clarinetist, Denis Malloy.
